The Carolina Region Attendance
Page
As stated on the front page, the idea behind this project is to provide
accurate and current information, not only to the host teams of our Region,
but to all members as to the number of teams and shooters who are planning to
attend Region shoots. Anyone having internet access can review the overall attendance
information, and anybody with a valid N-SSA competitor card can sign in and
update their personal attendance info without having to track down their team
commander or adjutant.
Here's how it works
As soon as I receive (either by mail or e-mail or whatever) an invitation to
a Region shoot, that shoot becomes available for review and sign-up purposes.
The reason for waiting until the invitations are received is to ensure that
the team match info is accurate. In other words, this year at Team X's skirmish
there may not be a Repeater match, or the Mortar match might be being held earlier
in the day, keeping someone from being able to shoot in it. All of this will
be reflected on that shoot's sign-up page.
From the front (welcome) page, if you select one of these shoots from the available list, you will be taken to a page listing all of the teams who have checked in so far, as well as how many of each team's members have signed up for each team match to be held at that shoot. At the bottom of this table there is a row with totals for each weapon. This should help provide the host team with some guidelines for how much target material needs to be prepped for each of the matches.
Individual Data
On this same table out at the end of each team's row, there is a total of the
number of team members planning to attend. This number is also a link to a page
of individual information. It shows the member names and the team matches each
person has signed up for. If no team matches were selected by a member, their
status is displayed as "CAN'T MAKE IT". This tells us that the person
did check in, but they can't make this shoot, another valuable piece of information
that sometimes gets lost. Team Commanders can use this page (at least in theory)
to see what their individual members plan to do.
So, How Do We Sign Up?
Below the table showing the team totals there is a link for both region
and non-region N-SSA members to update their info for this shoot. Note that
these links will disappear as soon as the shoot is over, even though you can
still get to this summary page.
Region or Registered Members:
If you are a member of the Carolina Region, your competitor number and team
number are stored in the Region roster already, so all you have to do is click
the link for Region/Registered members, and you'll be taken to the page which
asks for that information. You are asked to enter these two numbers just to
help verify that you are who you say you are before proceeding to the sign up
page. Once you are there, simply click on the team matches which you plan to
participate in and submit the data. (If you're coming back to update your information,
all the team matches you previously selected will be checked here). Updates
post automatically to the team summary page, and if you go back there, you can
verify that the change was made.
Non-Region and Non-Registered Members:
We have a few guests show up from time to time from out of region at our shoots,
and it seems only fair that y'all be able to "check in" as well. Non-region/non-registered
guests must enter their name, competitor number, team name, and team seniority
number, as well as the matches they want to participate in for this shoot. There
is a provision on this form for you to request to be added to our sign-up list,
so that for future visits you can sign in just as though you were a Carolina
Region member. When this form is submitted, it will e-mail the information to
me so I can review and post it. If you've asked to be added to our sign up list
and have provided a valid e-mail address, I'll send you a confirmation e-mail
as soon as you're added to our database.
So... use this page and by all means, encourage others to do so as well. The more people that post their data here, the more accurate that data will be and the more useful a tool it will become!
