The 23rd North Carolina Presents

You Might Be Skirmishing Too Early if...

Let me say from the start: the 23rd did their usual bang-up job with their February Shoot on Valentine's Day Weekend.
The range food was great, the schedule moved right along, we never wanted for anything. Except dry heat!

Dave preparing for yet another damp Pistol Match

The 23rd's Missle Launcher... the projectiles are seen
at the extreme right laying on the rifle rack.
Lots of fun... accuracy leaves a bit to be desired.
...If you pull on the range at 4:00 and can't setup camp and get dinner before dark...
...If you have to sit in the car with the motor running between relays...
...If you're chipping your teeth while getting a bullet out of the tube and you're not even a biter...
...If on the way home you fishtail more than twice on the same exit ramp stopping for gas...
...If the forecast for anywhere in the state contains the phrase: "in the higher elevations"...
...you just MIGHT be Skirmishing Too Early!

The Buncombe Rifles took home the ONLY medals won in the Region... congratulations Todd and Shelby!!

Our Pistol Team whupped up handily on everyone (the other two) else, winning all three events by a comfortable margin, and the match by almost 80 seconds. In second place came Iredell Blues, followed by 3rd NC Cavalry from the Tidewater Region.

As you can see from the stats for the rifle matches, we managed to keep our firm grasp on "lack-luster". I really hate it when our 'A' Musket team leaves 5 on the Pigeon Board! But even at that we came in 3rd Place, and 2nd in the Region behind the 27th North Carolina.

On kinda the flip side, our 'A' Carbine team came in first-in-region, but almost 50 seconds out of the medals.
Meanwhile, armed with 'The B.I.T.C.H.' ("...But Intermittently The Carbine from Hell"), Shelby farmed in with the Iredell Blues. It should be noted that, when the day ended, he had whupped all but our newest 'A' teamer!

Our Repeater Team did neither best nor worst in any of the events and finally got the balance right by coming in 3rd Place and in the medals, but first in the region. Oh. That's right, we were the ONLY Repeater Team in the region!
